DUBROVNIK
  • The 'Pearl of the Adriatic', is built of local stone with narrow winding streets and stairways, small squares and terraces.

  • Red tiles colour the roofs and the single main street is lined with sunshaded cafes and paved with polished limestone!

  • It has no traffic!
Only essential service vehicles are allowed within the city walls.

  • There are monasteries, churches, a cathedral, palaces, a variety of art galleries and museums, restaurants, cafes, bars, an open market, working fishermen and friendly locals.

THE COAST OF CROATIA
  • Is a dramatic string of islands, some with hidden villages and many uninhabited.

  • There are endless small bays and inlets, sheltered anchorages and warm sea to swim in.

  • The Adriatic here has an extraordinary clarity with luminous shades of blue and green. Summer temperatures approach 35ºC but thanks to the sea it never gets too hot.

"But is it safe there.......?"
"Yes - it has been a completely safe place for the last decade or so and the crime rate is exceptionally low - if you don't count the lady in the market slipping more peaches into your bag than you asked for! "
